Originally released in 2004, Don't Let It Slow You Down is a rich electro-acoustic tapestry, the result of collaboration between the group members and several talented outsiders.
Isobel sings most of the lead vocals, but not all. Track 2, "Beanie!," was composed and sung by the enormously talented Matt McNiff. Tim McNicholas contributes a lead vocal here and there, as well.
Danny Smith - who would leave around 2006, to be replaced by Ali A.B. -contributes winding, sinewy, oblique basslines to the album, as well as the banjo and mandolin that color many of the songs.
Throughout Don't Let it Slow You Down, you can hear the sound of a band discovering new techniques and processes. The horns and strings that you hear on this record would later come to dominate their 2007 album Musique Concrete.
